Chelsea Football Club

One of the most well-known English teams, Chelsea Football Club, was founded in 1905, at Stamford Bridge, where it has remained since its inception. Chelsea Football Club competes in the Premier League, in England, which is the highest league in English Football. As a club, Chelsea has managed to win themselves eight League titles, four FA Community Shields, eight FA Cups, five League Cups, one UEFA Europe League, one UEFA Super Cup, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, and one UEFA Champions League.

In Chelsea’s earlier days, the club did not find massive success in English football leagues, only managing to win its First Division title in 1955, with limited success again until 2003, when the club was bought by the famous Russian billionaire and entrepreneur Roman Abramovich. After their purchase, Chelsea saw colossal investment, and have managed to go on to win eighteen honours under Abramovich.

The former manager for the club, Jose Mourinho, was their most successful manager to date regarding major honours won, and under his tenure, the club managed to set a record for the highest number of points ever to have been won between the 2004 and 2005 season.

The traditional Chelsea kit is a royal blue colour with white socks for their home colours, with a club crest of a ceremonial lion rampant regardant holding a staff. The club’s away colours have varied over the years, with their current away kit being yellow top and shorts with blue socks, and their third colours being a pale blue with orange and blue socks.

Chelsea Football Club are well known for their rivalries with neighbouring teams, with perhaps their most infamous being with Millwall Football Club, although they are rivals with Fulham, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur as well. The rivalries have spread off the pitch, with football hooligans arranging fights with other hooligans along team lines. This has been an ongoing issue with football in England and other countries for many decades.

Chelsea is also a valuable club, being the seventh most valuable football club in the world, as of 2018. Their current worth is approximately £1.54 billion, and the club is the eighth highest earning club in the world, managing to earn over €428 million during the 2017 to 2018 season.
